The primary activities of Aquaculture Certification Council, Inc. include the training and accreditation of qualified individuals as ACC evaluators, and administration of the certification process. See below for sample information on the ACC Evaluator Training Courses, which have been held in Ecuador, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Indonesia, Nicaragua, Thailand and Mexico.

ACC representatives also make presentations at conferences and other meetings to help educate the aquaculture public regarding the benefits of applying best management practices and the advancing scientific technology that directs them.

ACC EVALUATOR TRAINING COURSE

Registration Fee: Evaluator Candidate – U.S. $1,800
Observer – U.S. $500
Includes: Handouts & coffee breaks.

Evaluator candidates and observers worldwide are invited to attend ACC Evaluator Training Courses. The five-day program prepares participants to inspect shrimp hatcheries, farms and processing plants according to Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) standards for environmental sustainability, social responsibility and enhanced HACCP food safety.

Participation
Aquaculture Certification Council, Inc.'s Evaluator Training Course is open to self-employed individuals, company representatives, associations and institutions. ACC evaluator accreditation is only available from Aquaculture Certification Council and is not transferable to individuals who do not successfully complete the ACC course.

ACC Evaluator Application and Registration
ACC evaluator applicants must have the equivalent of a bachelor's degree or higher and at least five years of technical experience in aquaculture at a farm or hatchery, or in quality control or auditing at a seafood processing plant. Applicants must also have a working knowledge of English, be of good character and provide a minimum of three references.

* To be considered for participation, all ACC evaluator candidates must first complete an ACC Evaluator Application Form. The free application requests information on applicants' education, professional experience and references. Please include pertinent information for all degrees earned and HACCP courses completed. ACC reserves the right to make the final determination as to candidate eligibility for this course. Please allow two weeks for the review committee decision.

After a candidate's application form is approved by the review committee, the ACC evaluator candidate should complete the Course Registration Form and return it to ACC with payment. ACC evaluator candidates who have previously been accepted for other courses may register for this course without reapplying.

Observer Application
Participants may audit the ACC Evaluator Training Course for information but not accreditation. Likely candidates include representatives from industry, governments and regulatory agencies. Observers do not fill out application forms, but must submit a Course Registration Form with payment to ACC.
